Blog-a-dog
Imagine coming home to find your laundry basket empty and the contents spread across the kitchen, living room and up the stairs all the way to the bathroom! You wonder how your adventurous pooch got through the locked doggy door.
Better yet, what was he thinking when he clawed his way into a bag of BENEFUL and fell asleep - with a big tummy - on your new sweater? It’s time to write a blog about it on DogSpace! “My doggy day ..in! I had the best day ever, thanks to mum who left a bag of yummy food in the laundry just for me. Let me tell you all how I got through the locked doggy door!”
Web blogs are a thriving platform for dog lovers to interact with each other and share stories about their furry companions or explain events through their eyes, like dog lovers in DogSpace.
Posting your doggy thoughts on the web helps you to see the world through the eyes of your pet. You see a ball, but your canine sees a breathtaking chase across the field and a catch that would make it into a book of canine world records. Your dog is your best friend, your true companion – in fact, you like her better than most other humans! The great thing is, many others on DogSpace feel the same way.
Here are some tips to help you blog and collect more Bones to make your best mate Dog of the Month!
Keep focused
You do not need to take a standard approach when blogging – what’s important is how effectively you communicate. Define your topic and stick to it. Dogs are curious by nature and this offers you many topics to write about! Write about what you and your best mate get up to. Taking rides in the car, playing favourite games in the park or performing tricks for yummy treats.
Do your research
If you are attempting to create the impression that you are knowledgeable about dogs, be sure that you stay current on doggy news. Many vet clinics and pet companies now send out emails to keep dog lovers updated on pet care. And if you are supporting a canine product or voicing an opinion, make sure you check your facts first before you blog about it.
Stick to a schedule
Blogging requires a little bit of time and effort so it’s important to keep to a schedule - just take five minutes every day or so - readers return to your blog to find out what you and your four-legged friend have been up to and to (hopefully!) reward your actions and adventures with Bones!
Keep it clear and simple
When you blog, keep your entries clear and easy to understand. Write headlines that are relevant to your post and ones that attract interest. Instead of using a general title “I have a naughty dog” – why not try “Where is Grandpa’s hearing aid?!” Also, carefully proofread your blog before you post and make sure it is free of any spelling or other errors that could cause embarrassment. (If Fido chewed on mum’s slippers and you wrote “clippers”, bloggers might think mum’s grooming herself!)
Promote your blog
If you are aiming to collect more and more Bones to help your pooch become Dog of the Month, you need to promote your blog to as many dog lovers as possible. Why not mention your blog’s address in your email signature line, in other forums where you post, on your business card or in conversations with anyone you meet. But it also works both ways - you need to actively participate in other people’s posts, too. Visit and comment in blogs that interest you and are in harmony with the general topic of your blog. If you help other bloggers out with web-traffic, they will help you. |
